Semi-fungible tokens (SFTs), or ERC-3525, is a relatively new token standard, introduced on the Ethereum, combining uniqueness like NFTs (i.e. ERC-721 non-fungible tokens) divisibility like fungible tokens (i.e. ERC-20 tokens). The key features of ERC-3525:
Combines properties of ERC-20 and ERC-721: ERC-3525 builds on existing standards. It inherits the unique identity and descriptive features of ERC-721 (NFTs) while enabling divisibility and fungibility like ERC-20 (fungible tokens) under certain conditions.
Fractionalization and merging: ERC-3525 tokens can be split into smaller pieces and merged back together. This allows for greater flexibility in representing ownership and value.
Scalability and composability: The standard is designed to be adaptable for various use cases. It can be integrated with existing DeFi protocols and marketplaces that support ERC-721 tokens.
Rivalz uses ERC-3525 for IP management: Intellectual properties can be tokenized as an ERC-3525 token, representing unique authorship while allowing fractional other copyrights (e.g. reproduction, distribution, commercialization). Rivalz empowers users and data providers to mint an equivalence of ERC-3525 tokens, representing their unique ownership, easily monetize those assets or trade them on secondary marketplaces.
